Mel is the president of Vision For Youth, Inc., an international network for youth ministry. He is a frequent speaker at youth, youth ministry, and parenting conferences. He speaks to thousands of students and youth workers each year. Mel is a graduate of Baptist Bible College and Seminary in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania and has done additional graduate work at Iowa State University and Faith Baptist Theological Seminary.
After serving as a youth pastor in Michigan for several years, Mel then taught youth ministry courses at Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa and at Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA. He currently serves as an adjunct faculty member at Baptist Bible Seminary. For 10 years he ministered at Regular Baptist Press as Director of Student Ministries. Mel has written 3 books with RBP on the subjects of youth discipleship, mentoring, and evangelism. He has also co-edited a youth ministry anthology from Thomas Nelson Publishers entitled, “Pushing the Limits: Unleashing the Potential of Student Ministry” and has just released a major new anthology on developing student leaders, entitled "The Greenhouse Project: Cultivating Students of Influence".
